This is about the whole car looking better
Maybe the paint has light wash marks and a little haze, but nothing terrible. It just doesn't pop anymore. Paint Enhancement is where we clean it up, give it a lighter machine polish, and bring back a lot of gloss without turning the job into a full defect-removal project.
The deeper scratches will still be there. Some swirls will still be there too. The point is that when you stand back and look at the whole vehicle, it looks cleaner, darker, and more alive.
We use a test spot instead of guessing
We can usually tell a lot from the paint under our lights, but a test spot shows us how it will actually respond. If a lighter polish gives you the result you're after, great. There is no reason to sell you hours of extra correction.
If it barely moves the defects and you want more, then we can talk about one-step or two-step correction. You get to see why before we make the entire car the experiment.
It also makes sense before some coatings
A newer or well-kept car may not need heavy correction before ceramic coating. It still needs to be washed, decontaminated, and prepped, and a lighter polish can clean up the gloss before the coating locks in that look.
Again, it depends on what the paint looks like and what you expect to see when it's done.

Is this the same as one-step correction?
They overlap, but enhancement leans more toward overall gloss and light cleanup. One-step correction is chosen when we want more defect reduction from that single polishing stage.
Will all the swirls be gone?
No. Some light ones may come out. Deeper ones will stay. We will show you what kind of improvement makes sense before we do the whole car.
Is this worth doing on a daily driver?
Usually that's exactly where it makes sense. You get a strong visual improvement without treating the car like a museum piece.
